Weekend Update

I drove by the house Monday, which is a Habitat day off, and saw that the mounted scaffolding was down. Mike had told me that he was going down there Monday to do some work, but that seemed way out of the ordinary. And the more I thought about it, the weirder it got.

Well, RSW went to site-host this morning and got the lowdown: reasonably organized criminals had raided the Habitat site over the weekend, breaking into the storage trailer and making off with every significant (and marketable) power tool, all the hammers, and anything of value. It was rather well organized.

Plus, these bastards somehow managed to remove and steal the support-bridge scaffold that was mounted to the front of the house, a job that probably took a considerable vehicle considering none of those pieces is shorter than 20 feet.

The good news, if you can call it that, is that they pretty much left the materials alone – the windows for the upper level weren’t taken, the roofing paper and wood supply were ignored. Our dormers in front cant be started until either a big huge ladder or new scaffold is brought on – there’s no safe way to reach the roof until that happens. However, with a new more-secure tool trailer on site, work was able to continue today.

Still. Unbelievable. Sad.
